A companion piece to I’ll Be Here, from Rinoa’s POV. I wanted to explore an idea centered around Rinoa being a sorceress and what that could mean in a KH setting.
“A Sorta Fairytale” is a series of short stories centered around exploring Rinoa’s childhood and character. All are set prior to the events of Final Fantasy VIII (with the exception of the final one which I have to tweak) and all are filled with headcanon I have for her. The series title is borrowed from Tori Amos’ song with the same name.

She shifted her pack on her shoulders as she settled onto the bolder on the overlook, happy to have the shady little nook to rest in. Her feet ached from the long hike – a slow burn present in her legs, too – and she took a swig from her canteen, enjoying the spread of the valley below her and the cool breeze tugging strands of her hair out of its braid. It was, quite literally, all down hill from where she was taking her break, something she was grateful for, and she took a moment to survey the farms below.
Well. That is problematic.
A very old story about that I wrote to explain the absence of the FFVIII characters in KH. Written before any concrete background on the FF characters came out, so now it’s headcanon to suit my needs.

Maybe “frigid” was a better term for it. Elise always forgot how cold the north east was in the winter. Well, she didn’t really forget, more like she chose to push the memory of the icy weather from her mind completely whenever she went home to “sunny” California for the winter and all of its rain.
